How to protect yourself from deer ticks while enjoying the Wisconsin outdoors.
UW-Extension entomologist P.J. Liesch says that Wisconsin is “one of the hot spots of tick activity in the U.S.” But, he stresses you can still enjoy the outdoors this summer as long as you are being aware of ticks. You can protect yourself from deer ticks and Lyme disease by avoiding prime tick habitat, wearing long sleeves and lighter clothing so you can spot the ticks, and applying repellent.
