(gentle piano music) - Music has been a healing force in my life for as long as I can remember.
Even as a child, it became a safe place where I could process trauma and express what I didn't yet have the words to say.
(upbeat piano music) ♪ I find myself in need of a little soothing ♪ ♪ Who turned the lights out ♪ ♪ Left me in the dark ♪ ♪ I was doing fine, now I'm not moving ♪ ♪ I'm just staying in one place too long ♪ ♪ In my mind, sometimes I feel like I am fading ♪ ♪ In my heart, I know there's more that needed saying ♪ ♪ In my hands, everything I need to awaken ♪ ♪ I can't look away ♪ ♪ I can't look away ♪ ♪ There's a mirror in every room, reminding ♪ - For me, melody becomes remedy when a lyric or a sound gives you chills, when the physical, emotional, and spiritual all meet in one moment of harmony.
Songwriting especially has allowed me to revisit different seasons of my life and learn from them.
