He's married to Becca.

Very simple, very normal working class guy with two daughters, and he just wants a simple life.

He is left at home manning the ship, looking after the kids and looking after the family and the family on while Becca goes off to the Isle of Man to discover what happened to her mum.

He's left trying to keep everything grounded and rooted in being supportive for Becca, which he doesn't always manage to do in the best way.

- Oh really?

- What?

- You don't let me be anything.

- Why do you need permission to be something?

- Well, you tell me.

You made it that way.

(water sloshing) (acoustic guitar) - My name is Dean Lennox Kelly, and I'm playing Jacob.

He's a taxi driver on the island and he just happens to be the one that picks them up when they first arrive on the Isle of Man.

There's an immediate connection with Rosalyn.

Definitely a kind of an energy opposites attract.

- [Jacob] It's cash only, I'm afraid.

- [Rosalyn] Well, how do I pay then?

- You owe me a pint.

- Relationship develops kind of there for her right place, right time.

- [Rosalyn] Morning.

- Morning.

- I play character called Pete Ribeiro who has settled on the island and it helps that he's found a woman, married, and he does fall in love.

- You loved her better, did you?

- No, I...

I just loved her.

- For Mary coming to the island has enabled her to live out her real life.

She has concealed the truth.

She has effectively lied to her own children.

- She was a very close friend of Mary, who's the mother of the two sisters.

- I'm sorry your mother was so closed off about her experience here.

- We gradually get to know, but I don't think you ever quite know.

There's suspicion that she has ulterior motives, but I of course don't think she does.

She's a bit of a mystery.

- Her daughters find out that their father knew a great deal more than he ever let on about this woman's life, and she's got a whole separate life.

- She cheated me outta the life she promised me I'd have, and she's not gonna make a fool of me in death.

- In the end, he digs his heels in and he goes, "Right, all I want out of this is that "her body's buried where I can see it."

That's scale of his mind really.

- Every family, I think, has their own story and yet they're very relatable.

Each and every character is very relatable in this.

I miss Gram.
